It happened. We ran out of all that hay we put up last season. With pastures greening up nicely, the cattle prefer to graze anyway so we mounted the horses and began the trek to the spring pasture.
Half a mile into the drive the bull joined the group. The bull we left fenced in back at the ranch. He wasn’t about to let us take his little harem away from him. There was nothing to do but take the entire group–cows, calves, and bull–back to the corrals and separate the bull out from the herd. Again.
We took a little rest to let the cattle graze along the way.
They look pretty happy with their new dinner menu.
